In April of 1981, Jackson Sumner & Associates, Inc. opened our doors and announced it with our newsletter, “The Marketeer.” It became our monthly newsletter that was full of JSA news, helpful information for agents, and analysis of the insurance industry. It was pretty much like our e-newsletter today, but with a lot more manual labor involved. (Including the hand-drawn portraits so they would photocopy more clearly than a half-tone photograph!)
The bulk mailing was always a HUGE undertaking. The Marketeer was multiple pages, usually stapled, then stuffed into envelopes,…all in-house and done all by hand. The idea for the name came from Mimi Dobbins, who is our Vice President of Operations and has been with us since the beginning, always coming up with great ideas.
Today, of course, we have more efficient ways to get that same great information out to you, like our e-newsletter. Now we can spend that extra time underwriting and helping our agents.
